Cong will rise like Phoenix: Botcha HYDERABAD: Taking an indirect dig at the six expelled Congress MPs, PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana said some of his party leaders, who had decided to join other parties, were involved in negative propaganda that the Congress would not find candidates to contest the ensuing general polls in Seemandhra.
Asserting that his party would rise from the ashes like a phoenix in the days to come, Botcha said, 'The party may face some ups and downs in Seemandhra because of the Centre's decision to bifurcate AP. However, it is wrong to think that our party will not find candidates to contest the polls in our region. In the long run, the party will bounce back; it had regained power even after its numerical strength in the Assembly dropped to 26 MLAs.'
In an informal chat with reporters, the PCC president said the expulsion of six Seemandhra MPs from the Congress should not be linked to the T-bill. He also felt that the disciplinary action on the MPs will not have any impact on the electoral fortunes of the Congress.
Stating that the PCC had received formal intimation from the AICC leadership about the disciplinary action against the rebel MPs, Botcha said the expulsion would not affect bifurcation of the state.
Asked whether the AICC leadership cracked the whip on the six MPs for protesting against the Centre's T-decision, Botcha said, 'Our party MPs are acting as per the aspirations of the people of their region just as our MLAs did in the Assembly recently.'
On former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao joining the YSRC and the latest rise in the exodus of Seemandhra Congress leaders to other parties, he said, 'It is an expected development. I have already said that as many as 30 MLAs of our party in Seemandhra would desert the party.'
