Vizag ITIR Proposal under active study HYDERABAD: A proposal for creation of Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in Visakhapatnam Metropolitan area comprising of IT/ITES/Electronic Hardware Clusters in an area of 10,995 acres (44.50 sq km) is under active consideration.
IT minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah reviewed the proposal along with other IT promotion activities in the state with officials of ITE&C and APIIC here on Tuesday.
In the meeting it was proposed to create external and internal infrastructure in the ITIR areas with an estimated cost of Rs 19,706 crore and Rs 5,504 crore respectively and seek financial assistance from the Central government.
The Vizag ITIR will be implemented over a period of next 25 years in two phases and after commissioning, it is expected to provide direct employment to 4.28 lakh people and indirect employment to another 17.11 lakh people.
The investment expected is `45,005 crore and revenues expected are ` 37,353 crore, when it is fully operations by 2038.
According to IT minister, IT Incubation Towers at Kakinada, Warangal and Tirupati are in advanced stages of construction and would be completed by March end, while Visakhapatnam Tower will be ready by June. Foundation stone for IT Incubation Tower in Karimangar will be laid on February 16.
The minister also took stock of progress on the development of GAME park layout and construction, interior works at STPI Incubation Centre in Madhapur, construction of 220 KIV Substation at Benguluru, widening of roads at Adibatla, water supply through HMSSB at Adibatla, layout preparation for 250 acres of land at Mamidipally, layout approval for IT SEZ in Tirupati and earmarking of 150 acres of land for Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMC) in Visakhapatnam, environment clearance and layout approval of two EMCs at e-City and Maheswaram.
