Kiran keeps friends and foes guessing Hyderabad: After keeping supporters guessing on his resignation for the past few days, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has now decided to stay put in the office till the T-process reached its logical conclusion.
After watching the incidents in the Lok Sabha, the chief minister said the match is not yet over and the last ball is yet to be bowled. There is time till Feb 21.
Stating that resigning from his post is the last option for him, Kiran Reddy said he would take a call on it only after holding extensive discussions with Seemandhra leaders.
'We (Seemandhra Congress leaders) are holding discussions about our resignation from posts. Our only aim is to keep the state united. We held talks among ourselves to stall the T-bill in Parliament and succeeded,' he told reporters here on Thursday.
Kiran Reddy further said, 'Let's wait and see what will happen... till Feb 21, the day on which Parliament session ends.'
He denounced the way the T-bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha amidst utter chaos, saying, 'Tabling of the T-bill in the Lok Sabha in that manner is the most undemocratic act. It is not the way to introduce a bill in the House. There are certain rules and procedures. We should uphold democratic values.'
Such bulldozing acts by the Centre would only create distrust among people on Parliamentary democracy, thus destabilising the entire system, he cautioned.
Kiran Reddy said the ugly incidents in the Lok Sabha on Thursday were the result of the Centre's mishandling of the sensitive issue of state bifurcation. He also disapproved of the suspension of 16 MPs from Parliament.
Referring to Union ministers from Seemandhra trooping into the Well of the Lok Sabha, Kiran Reddy said it had only reflected how adamantly the Centre was dealing with the issue of state bifurcation.
Asked about MP Lagadapati Rajagopal using pepper spray in the House, the chief minister said the MP had resorted to the act as he was attacked in the House. 'I will not comment on what happened in the Lok Sabha, but such unruly scenes must not take place in the august house,' he said.
