Debar Rajagopal from Parliament: Jairam New Delhi: Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh sought strongest possible action on Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal for using pepper spray in the Lok Sabha.
Stating that Lagadapati's act was blot on the Indian Democracy, Jairam Ramesh demanded imposition of lifetime debarment on the Vijayawada MP from electoral politics.
'The MP should be given a strongest possible punishment for his undemocratic act. He should be banned from contesting elections for the rest of his life. His unruly behaviour in the House has derided the nobility of Indian democracy,' the Union minister lambasted.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Jairam Ramesh said the Union government would soon decide what sort of action should be initiated against Rajagopal for his unsavoury act within the preview of Indian laws.
'I don't say that Rajagopal has no right to oppose the T-bill. But, spraying a pepper spray in the House was not the right way to express his opposition to the bill,' he said.
