Cong, BJP conspiring to split AP, accuses TDP MP HYDERABAD: TDP Rajya Sabha member from Seemandhra 'Sujana' Chowdary accused both Congress and BJP of dividing the state for coming to power at the Centre.
Speaking to reporters here, Chowdary said: 'Both the parties are competing for taking credit for the division and playing with the lives of Telugu people.'
The Congress was planning to include bifurcation of many states in the country in its 2014 poll manifesto so that it could win seats in those states, he alleged.
'Congress wants to use division of Andhra Pradesh as a poll strategy to win seats in those states where there is demand for separate statehood.
It is least bothered about the feelings and welfare of the people of the country and only interested in coming to power. If Andhra Pradesh is divided, it will give scope for division of many more states,' he warned.
He said the BJP too is only interested in power and not bothered about the future of the people of Andhra Pradesh. 'Only Congress and BJP have the required numbers in Parliament and taking advantage of their position, these two parties are playing politics and had made Andhra Pradesh a trial ground for division of states,' he alleged.
'TDP's role is limited to giving opinion as it does not have sufficient numbers in Parliament. Blaming it for the division of state is not proper. Both the national parties, for their political needs, are dividing the state in an undemocratic manner,' he alleged.
Blaming the Congress for the present situation, the MP said the party has created enmity among Telugu people and put the state's future in uncertainty.
'Congress was not listening to anyone, even to its own chief minister, MPs and MLAs, and dividing the state unilaterally,' he alleged.
He said the Centre should leave Andhra Pradesh division issue to the next government and stop the process of bifurcation immediately.
