T-BJP seeks Governor's intervention to convene Assembly Hyderabad, Sept 6 (INN): BJP floor leader in Telangana Legislative Assembly Dr K Lakxman on Saturday requested Governor ESL Narasimhan to direct the government to convene the Assembly session to address the problems of people.
"The state of Telangana has been facing serious problems which warrant immediate intervention of the government. Issues like Power crisis, Farmer debt waiver, Fee reimbursement of the SC, ST, BC, EBC, Minority students', Viral fevers, the agitation of the unemployed youth, etc., need to be discussed immediately.
In our day to day interaction with people and in our tour to the districts, we have been receiving several representations from the people expressing their woes," Dr Laxman said in a memorandum submitted to the Governor.
The BJP leader said that in a democratic polity, it is the responsibility of the Legislature to address these issues and find solutions. However, the Telangana government is being nonchalant in not merely addressing the issues but even in convening the Assembly which is its constitutional responsibility.
"The validity of Vote on Account which is an interim arrangement will be over by the end of this month. Therefore, it is mandatory for the Legislature to take appropriate measures to ensure validity for the expenditure of the government which include the salaries of the employees and other welfare schemes," he said.
"Since the Telangana Government is not showing any interest in convening the Assembly despite a series of appeals, the BJLP requests your intervention as the custodian of the constitution to direct the government to convene the Assembly immediately to address the problems of people," Laxaman requested the Governor.
