KCR still hot favourite for Medak MEDAK: With Medak Lok Sabha seat going to by-poll on September 13, the Opposition has stepped up its attack on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, questioning the delay in fulfilling his poll promises.
However, a majority of the electors in Medak Lok Sabha segment feel that three months is not enough for any Chief Minister to prove himself.
A visit to Assembly segments and villages in the Medak Lok Sabha constituency, revealed that a majority of the electors were not ready to judge Rao's performance as Chief Minister in just 100 days.
In every Assembly segment, people felt that ample time should be given to the CM to settle down and understand the nitty-gritty of administration.
'Telangana is a new State. Hence, it takes time for the government to overcome teething troubles. It is not fair on anybody's part to find fault with Chief Minister KCR for not implementing poll promises, including the crop loan waiver,' said S Sammaiah, an 80-year-old farmer in Kontur in Medak Assembly segment.
The octogenarian, who had availed of `7 lakh loan from various banks to cultivate crops on his eight-acre farm land, exuded confidence that the new government would definitely give relief to him from the crop loan debt in the coming days.
S Srinivas from Ramachandrapuram in Narsapur segment complained of 'erratic power supply' to the farming sector. However, he too did not want to blame KCR for the crisis.
'KCR has already said that the new State would have to face electricity crisis for three years as there is no sufficient power generation in the State,' he remarked.
Another smallholder, Shankar Naik from Hanuman Gadda in Sangareddy segment, felt that the new CM be given enough time to prove himself. 'Pelli ayina marusati roje pillau puttaruga? Biyyam poyyi meeda pettagane annam ready kaaduga? (One cannot expect children as soon as a couple is married. Rice is not cooked within a minute of putting the vessel on the stove),' he pointed out.
Interestingly, some of the educated youth felt that the Telangana State (TS) Chief Minister should maintain more cordial relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get funds for TS.
'KCR should foster good relationship with PM Modi and get more projects for the TS,' K Srinivas Goud and P Anjaneya Goud, who had completed graduation recently, felt.
The Chief Minister seems to have won over the hearts of several of electors with his act of holding 'Intense Household Survey'. This mammoth exercise, however, has raised high hopes among electors that the government would dole out more welfare schemes to them.
