KCR to Delhi seeking to resolve issues with AP
HYDERABAD: Six months down the lane, the K Chandrasekhar Rao government, which doled out various sops and announced flagship programmes, is yet to resolve key issues with its neighbour Andhra Pradesh -- sharing of power being the contentious one -- and the first week of December could either put an end to these issues or escalate the tensions further. Apparently, the KCR government will be completing six months of its rule on Tuesday (Dec 2).
The Chief Minister, who on the floor of the Assembly recently said that he would not knock the door of the Centre to resolve the issues, is going on a four-day tour to Delhi.
In the Assembly, KCR had made it clear that the Centre should rein in AP and give Telangana its share of power or TS would take its own course of action, including non-sharing of power from the units that are to be commissioned in TS in the coming years.
In this backdrop, KCR is flying down to Delhi on December 4 when he will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apprise the latter about issues like cadre bifurcation, conduct of examinations, among others, apart from sharing of electricity between the two States.
KCR is also likely to meet Union Ministers and take up the issues with them. TRS MPs are busy making arrangements and taking appointments from the Ministers concerned for KCR to meet them.
KCR has been waiting for the Centre to intervene and resolve the contentious issues. One major problem has been the delay in AIS officers' allocation which is posing hindrance to implementation of various programmes. KCR will also participate in the Chief Ministers' conference to be chaired by the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the government listed out 159 programmes and initiatives it had taken up in the first six months of its rule. These include talks with AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, coming out with a new Land Acquisition Act and several others.
