TS Congress lists out TRS govt's failures

Hyderabad, Dec 2 (INN): Deputy CLP leader in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has described the six-month rule of Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana State as highly disappointing.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislative Party office here on Tuesday, Shabbir Ali said that the TRS Government appears to be working in 'installment mode' and there were not even six big achievements worth mentioning during the last six months. He cited 16-17 instances where the TRS Government has completely failed to perform.

The TRS Government erred in the list of Telangana martyrs and as against more than 2,000 martyrs, it sanctioned compensation to only 459 martyrs' families.

Similarly, only 25 per cent of the amount was paid towards crop loans waiver and there is no clarity on when the remaining amount would be cleared. Likewise, the government initially rejected the reports of suicide by farmers and later admitted it due to pressure from the Congress party. However, it failed to provide any compensation as per GO Ms 421.

Except for giving nod by the State Cabinet, Shabbir Ali said that the TRS Government also failed to take any concrete action to implement 12 per cent reservation for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes.

He said there is no clarity on the legal procedure to be adopted for the implementation of these promises. Although Rs 1,030 crore were allocated for Minorities Welfare, only Rs 112 crore have been released.

The Congress MLC accused the government of cheating the people on the issue of power. He said frequent power cuts, both official and unofficial, have badly hit the agriculture and industries sector leading to hundreds of suicides by farmers and closure of several industries across Telangana.

Even after six months, there is no clarity on how these crisis would be resolved. He also lashed out at the government for introducing a defective industrial policy which does not guarantee any benefit to the local youth.

Shabbir Ali said that the KG to PG free education promise too remained a non-starter and one academic year has already been lost. Similarly, the government lacks clarity on Financial Assistance for Students of Telangana (FAST). This confusion has badly hit the enrolment in engineering colleges and a majority of 1.10 lakh seats remained vacant.

The Congress leader said not a single marriage has been performed under the Kalyana Laxmi/Shaadi Mubarak scheme although the scheme came into existence on October 2. Likewise, not a single house has been constructed under 2BHK scheme.

The TRS Government has not yet fully implemented the pension scheme nor did it distribute the new ration cards. The government's promise of lifting all cases related to Telangana agitation confined to mere announcement although petty cases were withdrawn. Hundreds of students are still getting summons from different courts, he said.

The much-hyped Intensive Household Survey too remained incomplete even after two months, he said.

Shabbir Ali said that instead of focusing on implementing the promises made in the TRS manifesto, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been making new promises every day.

He said that the Chief Minister has promised to withdraw GO Ms 111 to allow constructions in the areas around Himayatsagar and Osmansagar. He said that the previous Congress Government could not take up modernization of Jiyaguda slaughter house as the GO is being implemented under the direct monitoring of Supreme Court.

The Congress leader said that he would give only 5/100 marks to six-month rule of TRS Government in the State.
