Dacoits attack petrol bunk staffers in Guntur dist. VIJAYWADA: A gang of five dacoits went on the rampage at petrol bunk on the outskirts of Vatticherukuru village in Guntur district in the early hours today and made off with cash of about Rs.3,000, after beating up the three staff members.
According to police, the dacoits descended on the petrol bunk hoping that they would be making a major kill but their calculations went wrong as the clerk took away most of the collection of the day along with him as is his habit in the evening as it is not safe to habit. This is because keeping money at the petrol bunk is not safe since it is located at a desolate place.
The dacoits on arriving at the petrol bunk, demanded keys to the safe where the money was kept and when the three staff members - Mani, Chinababu and Satynarayana - resisted, they beat them up severely with iron rods causing bleeding injuries. They then opened the safe, took away the cash and escaped under the cover of darkness.
The three staff members have been admitted to Guntur hospital where the condition of one of them is state to be critical. The police are trying to figure out who the culprits were and where they might be hiding.
