US has no plans on Consulate in Vijayawada HYDERABAD: Dashing the hopes of the Andhra Pradesh government, the US Embassy on Wednesday clarified that it has no plans to open any new office in India.
A day after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's reported appeal to the US delegation, which had met him here on Tuesday, to open US Consulate in Vijayawada, the US Consulate-General Hyderabad office issued this clarification.
'In response to recent reports in media, the US embassy affirms that there are no plans to open any new US government facilities in India at this time'.
In fact, the CMO in a press release quoted the US officials as saying that they would consider the possibility of setting up a Consulate office in Vijayawada.
When the US delegation called on Naidu here on Tuesday, the latter asked them to consider the possibility.
