Jagan exposes Naidu's doublespeak

Visakhapatnam, Dec 5: In vitriolic attack on the TDP government for its anti-people policies, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has slammed the Chief Minister for his double speak, before and after the elections, and warned that the agitation will be intensified till the State comes to terms in keeping up the poll promises.

Participating in the Maha dharna at the Collector office here on Friday, the Leader of Opposition said: 'Chandrababu Naidu's speech before and after the elections have been totally different and the credibility has lost its way in the run-up to power by all unfair means.

This will not be tolerated as farmers, women groups, pensioners, students and youth are up in arms against the Chandrababu Naidu who has changed tuned after being elected and the agitation will be intensified till he fulfills what he has promised.

I will sit on a two- day fast on January 6 and 7 and the agitation continues and will be intensified highlighting the double talk of Chandrababu Naidu and his blatant lies.'

This apart, after Sankranti, I will go on an Odarpu Yatra to console the family members of the 86 farmers who committed suicides due to indebtedness which is the result of the false promises of Chandrababu Naidu.

Exposing the two versions of Chandrababu Naidu's speeches before and after elections, he said: The Chief Minister is constantly changing tunes and unabashedly bluffing taking the people for granted.

During electioneering and in the Party manifesto, it was said that he will waive all agriculture loans after assuming office; the tone has changed and he is now asking 'When did I promise loan waiver, it was only crop loans that I have talked about.

During electioneering there were advertisements that he will waive all agriculture loans but has been very audaciously stating that he meant only crop loans.

Yet, he never speaks out as to how much loan will be waved and how many people will be benefitted. The state has Rs 87,000 crores agriculture loans and Rs 14, 000 crores DWACRA loans, the penal interest on the two loans amount to Rs 14,000 crores while Chandrababu Naidu has earmarked a meager Rs 5,000 crores for the loan waiver in the budget and boasted that he has cleared 20 % of the agriculture loans. While there are more than 1 crore account holders he has reduced the figure 22 lakh farmers.

While there are 43,11,686 pensioners in the State and the amount due to them would be Rs 3,700 crores, his budget allocation was just Rs 1,350 crores and he yawning gap is being tried to bride by indiscriminately downsizing the number of beneficiaries. This was done by appointing committees laden with TDP workers who weeded out names based on political affiliations.

His bravado was also seen during electioneering when he said that once he comes to power he would provide one job per family failing which he will give unemployment stipend of Rs 2,000 per family. When the question was pointedly asked in the Assembly his reply was: 'I never promised government jobs. People need not approach Chandrababu Naidu if it is jobs in the private sector.'

There is no mention of fees reimbursement and even the arrears are not cleared. Farmers, women groups, pensioners, youth and students and angry with the Chief Minister as he has let them down by going back on his promise and this dharna is not the end but their voice of dissent will be carried forward and the agitation will be intensified further, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said.

He also criticized the State for being indifferent to the affected people of the Hudhud Cyclone and the very paltry sum thrown at the people was like crumbs eve as the magnitude of loss is heavy. The farmers of the region being defaulters became ineligible for crop insurance which has further compounded their woes.

The YSR Congress President submitted a memorandum to the District Collector on the plight of farmers, women, pensioners, youth and students and Hududh Cyclone affected people. Similar dharnas were held at all the Collectorates across the State.
