High alert on Babri Masjid demolition anniversary

Hyderabad, Dec 5 (INN): A high alert has been sounded across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in view of 22nd anniversary of demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on Saturday.

Security has been beefed in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in view of Bandh and 'Black Day' call given by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Masjlis Bachau Tahreek and other organizations.

Additional forces have been deployed at all sensitive locations across the twin cities. In addition to the Hyderabad City Police personnel, additional forces have been deployed in many areas of Old City and other sensitive places.

The Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police have imposed prohibitory orders in their respective commissionerate limits and a ban has been imposed on rallies and meetings on December 6.

However, some Muslim organizations are planning to hold a protest meeting at Indira Park while another is planning to take out a rally from Indira Park. It is not yet known whether the City Police have permitted those meetings and rallies. The MBT leaders will be submitting a memorandum to Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan at 11 AM on Saturday.

The Hyderabad City Police too issued an alert to all citizens through SMS on Friday evening. 'In view of observance of Black Day on the eve of anniversary of demolition of Babri Masjid, people are requested to remain alert and inform police through Dial 100 in case if they notice any suspicious persons or abandoned objects like bags, briefcase, tiffin box, etc., and cooperate with the police,' said the message.

In view of the security alert received from the Centre, the South Central Railway too has beefed up security on its system. Instructions have been issued to all officials concerned including Railway Protection Force personnel in all six Divisions of SCR to be on high alert.

According to the SCR, policing would be strengthened in railway stations, trains and at vital railway installations. Important Railway Stations and MMTS trains will be guarded/escorted with armed security personnel.

Anti-sabotage checks will be conducted with sniffer dogs. Monitoring through CCTV Surveillance System will be intensified. Entry and exit points at Stations will be secured with sufficient security and commercial staff. Close liaison is being maintained with officials of Govt. Railway Police, local Police and Intelligence officials to enhance security.
