'Rasamayi' appointed as TSS chairman HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has nominated Mankondur MLA and popular singer Y Balakishan, popularly known as 'Rasamayi' Balakishan as chairman of Telangana Samskrutika Sarathi (TSS).
Balakishan was closely associated with TRS during Telangana state movement and arranged several song and dance programmes at every public meeting addressed by Rao. Later, he was given TRS ticket and elected to the Assembly from Mankondur in Karimnagar district.
Now, Balakishan, who had fought against the central government and Andhra leaders before, will pen some positive songs for the benefit of TRS government. Rao directed Balakishan to coordinate with all other artistes in the state and involve them in the reconstruction of Telangana state.
TSS will prepare songs and ballets to create awareness in the masses on government programmes like restoration of tanks, Haritha Haaram, Water Grid and also fight against social evils like untouchability and superstitions.
Around 500 cultural troupes will be constituted for this. All the troupes will extensively tour the state and give a wide publicity to government programmes.
Balakishan has already penned some songs eulogising KCR and TRS, and performed in the Assembly recently.
