Telangana state to unveil IT policy soon Hyderabad: The proposed IT policy of the Telangana government will be announced in the third week of December. It will ensure that Hyderabad becomes an even more attractive destination for the IT and IT-enabled sector companies, Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao said on Sunday.
Stating that the IT department had been in talks with major IT companies to ensure that the new IT policy would suit their needs, KTR said that reducing the time required for recovering clearances and permits would be the top priority of the government.
'The delays caused at various levels when providing clearances will be cut down,' he told media, after an official review. Informing that the government had a target of Rs 1.2 lakh crore exports for the software industry, he said that the already growing industry would see a growth rate of 16 per cent once the new policy is implemented.
'It will provide jobs to at least 20 lakh people through and have a steady growth rate,' he promised. KTR said that the TRS government would also take up training of students on a large scale to arm them with skills so that they could be employable immediately after they finished their studies.
'Entrepreneurship, research and innovation will be encouraged among students,' he said. The IT minister said that companies who come forward to invest in second tier cities would be provided additional incentives and benefits as it would reduce the economic imbalance found in the state.
'The employees who work in such companies will also be provided with infrastructure like roads to ease their troubles,' he said. Saying that the government would accord priority basis to companies that come forward with mega-projects, he said that a 'chasing cell' would also be employed in the IT sector.
Expressing confidence that the next generational companies like Google or Facebook would emerge from Telangana, he said that the government was encouraging the research and development sector to facilitate this.
'Social media, analytics and cloud computing will find their needs addressed in the IT policy,' he said. Projects like making Hyderabad a fully Wi-Fi enabled city, Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge (TASK) and T-HUB would also be addressed, he said.
