Vizag: Delay in land allotment can hit investments VISAKHAPATNAM: Rushikonda IT Park Association vice-president O Naresh Kumar has expressed the fear that the city might lose several major projects to other places if the state government doesn't address the delay in allocation of land to companies.
In a letter addressed to the IT minister, the IT secretary and other officials concerned on Wednesday, Naresh said that the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has expressed interest in setting up an IT incubation centre in Vizag with Rs 16 crore.
Though the government has provisionally allotted a two-acre site at Yendada two years ago, the final allotment letter and physical possession of the land were not given to the company.
In another case, the assured 100 acres were not allotted to the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC), which was sanctioned by the Central government, because of which Vizag has been removed from the eligible cities list.
'This is due to lack of clarity among the officials on land allotment policy (sale/price/lease/free) with regard to central government institutions,' he said adding.
A central grant of `50 crore would be given for the development of the cluster, he pointed out. He said that the central government institutions like CDAC, STQC and NIELIT are also interested in setting up their campuses in Vizag and the government should act fast to ensure that these central government organisations do not move away from Vizag.
