Cop misfires before KCR's chopper lands HANUMAJIPALLI (KARIMNAGAR): Just before chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's helicopter was about to land near Hanmajipalli village in Bejjanki mandal on Wednesday, mild commotion prevailed as grass at the helipad caught fire after a policeman misfired the pistol.
The cop triggered the pistol for signalling the location of the helipad. Police trigger the pistol to blow smoke before the arrival of the security chopper of the CM but a portion of the grass at the helipad which had dried up caught fire.
Immediately, police and fire services authorities doused the flames by pouring water. Soon after, the security helicopter landed safely, followed by KCR's chopper, which landed at around 12.35 pm.
In view of CM's visit, a heavy security blanket was thrown around the area.The CM later explained to his ministerial colleagues about the protected water supply scheme which was launched here in 1999-2000 to cater to water needs of 180 villages in Medak district.
