TS Govt to improve 64,000 km of roads Hyderabad, Dec 11 (INN): Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Thursday said that the State Government has initiated the steps to improve the rural road network across the Telangana State.
As per the database prepared by the State Government, the Panchayat Raj roads are spread on a stretch of 64,046 kilometres. They include 18,564 km BT roads, 14,148 km Metal Roads and 29,617 sand roads.
He said Rs 2,380 crore would be spent for conversion of 4,180 km of sand roads into BT roads. An amount of Rs 1,767 crore would be spent to improve 12,006 km of BT roads during the financial year 2014-2015.
KTR said that the tender process to carryout repairs of Panchayat Roads is being expedited and stringent norms are being followed to ensure high standards of repair and construction.
