KCR says he never visited a doctor for 52 years Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had never visited a clinic or hospital, nor had he consulted any doctor to get treatment for any ailment for over 52 years.
This was revealed by KCR himself, while addressing a gathering of several senior doctors, specialists and medical practitioners after the inauguration of Star Hospital's Institute of Neuro Sciences and Centre for Joint Replacement at Banjara Hills on Thursday.
During the course of his address, the Chief Minister revealed that he was very much health conscious and a fitness freak. 'Believe it or not, I had no occasion to visit a doctor for even a minor ailment for 52 years; not even for checking blood pressure,' he said evoking applause from the doctors, who were obviously stumped.
KCR said he had led a tension-free life for most of his life and hence there was no question of any blood pressure. However, during the agitation for the cause of separate Telangana, especially during his fasting, he was constantly examined for BP because those were tension-filled days.
Many had questioned him whether he was a diabetic but he had no idea what it is, he said amidst laughter. Claiming that Hyderabad has emerged as the health hub of the country over the years, the Chief Minister observed that best affordable medicare and state-of-the-art hospitals were the reasons for patients to get treated in the city.
He called upon the doctors to continue providing affordable medicare to the needy. KCR recalled that during his visits to several hospitals in the city, he had noticed that patients from several parts of the globe were getting treated here because of the state-of-the-art medical facilities and expertise available in the city.
He expressed his happiness that Star Hospital had grown from a 70-bedded hospital to a 350-bed specialist hospital with the addition of the new facility.
With over 70 specialist doctors and another 50 joining soon, he hoped that Star Hospitals would emerge as a shining star in providing the needed health care to the people in the city and stated that it is great to see that around 1000 people are given employment at these hospitals.
The Chief Minister has stated that Star Hospitals has been the fastest growing hospital and in the city. 'People of the state have become extremely health conscious and are running to the hospital to be on a safer side there by increasing the need for this kind of hospitals and they would be receiving a lot of patients,' he said.
