Ankireddys family elated with joy GUNTUR: Viswakanth Ankireddy's parents, Ankireddy Eswar Reddy and Sulochana, who were glued to the TV ever since they received a call from Infosys - Viswakanth is an employee of the software giant - around 9.30 a.m, were elated after coming to know of their son's safety.
The couple, who live at Sampath Nagar in Guntur, had endured, perhaps the toughest day of their lives, watching TV and praying for their son. As the news of the police action and Viswakanth's safety trickled in, the entire household erupted in joy.
Amidst the congratulatory calls, Viswakanth's cousin told, 'We are very happy to have him safe and sound.' Viswakanth had gone to the cafe to have breakfast as his office was in its vicinity, he said.
Eswar Reddy, a retired medical representative, had shifted his family to Guntur from his native Kadapa district eight years ago. Viswakanth, their only son, did his schooling at Korukonda Sainik School and intermediate at the Siddartha College in Guntur.
He graduated in engineering from BITS Pilani and was among the toppers. After joining Infosys, he went to Australia seven years ago. Wife B Shilpa Reddy, who lives in Australia along with her husband and daughter Akshara, was in touch with her in-laws throughout the day.
Eswar Reddy was also assured of all help by Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu who spoke to him over the phone and briefed him on the steps being taken by the government.
During the day, Sulochana, in desperation, had even appealed to the terrorist to release her son and kept telling mediapersons and whoever visited them that she was worried about her son's safety.
