Bring down transmission losses in three years: Naidu Hyderabad, Dec 16 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed energy department officials to bring down the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses from the current 12 per cent to 6 per cent in the next three years.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat today, the Chief Minister gave the examples of countries like Japan which has T&D losses of up to only 4.62% while Canada has 5.45%, China has 5.72% and USA has 6%.
The Chief Minister said that energy department officials should take cues from these countries and bring down the T&D losses in AP to 6%. He added that the focus should not only be on consumption but also on supplying quality power to consumers.
He suggested setting up call centres and monitoring centres to track power consumption, distribution and T&D losses. This data, he said, should be collected at control room and a report on this data should be submitted to him.
Naidu has asked energy department to set a few parameters to measure T&D losses from generation centres (APGenco) to end-user. He added that AP should be competing with China and the US in energy production, transmission and distribution.
The Chief Minister added that providing quality power will usher in investments and this will in turn, create more jobs for youth. Meanwhile, he also suggested that the convention centres, (which will be built in every mandal headquarters in the state) should be provided with uninterrupted and quality power.
