TS Govt has no data on encroachments: Opposition
Hyderabad, Dec 16 (INN): The major opposition parties have accused the Telangana Government of holding the All Party meeting on Tuesday without having required data on the encroachments on government lands in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the government lacks clarity on the issue and it has provided old statistics related to Urban Land Ceiling applications.
He alleged that the State Government was trying to impose its decision under the guise of holding all-party meeting. He said that the discussion on the issue was incomplete and the government has not fixed a new date for continuation of all-party meeting.
Mallu also demanded an all party meeting to discuss the Metro Rail route in the old city. He claimed that the then Congress Government had finalised the Metro Rail project after considering all aspects. However, by citing different reasons, the present TRS Government is trying to stall the project, he alleged.
TDP leaders L Ramana and Errabelli Dayakar Rao also echoed similar views and said that the government lacks both, the accurate data and clarity on the issue. They said the government should disclose the number and types of cases which are pending in different courts.
They said that a special court should be established to dispose off all the cases within six months. They also sought probe into the benami properties in the city.
The MIM too has strongly objected to the proposed regularisation policy and said free regularisation of encroachments on land up to 125 sq yards would benefit only 270 people. MIM MLC Altaf Hyder Razvi said there nearly 41,000 cases of encroachments on lands up to 250 sq yards.
Describing the entire process as an eye-wash, he said that the government was trying to burden the people in the name of new Land/Building Regularisation Scheme. He also alleged that the government was trying to protect the big land sharks by targeting common people.
