Begin works by June 2015: Naidu to Sumitomo
Hyderabad, Dec 18 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that modern technologies and equipment will be incorporated in agriculture sector in the state to make farming profitable and sustainable.
A 11-member delegation lead by Koheir Hirao, CEO of Japan's Sumitomo Corporation, met Chief Minister at Secretariat today. Following the Government of Andhra Pradesh's MoU with Sumitomo Corporation in agriculture during his visit to Japan, the Chief Minister today asked the Sumitomo delegation to begin work in agriculture sector by June 2015.
The Chief Minister also requested them to work with ICRISAT in modernizing agriculture and also work on marketing AP's agro products internationally. He also asked them to focus not only on increasing agricultural output of food crops but also the productivity of cash crops.
Hirao briefed the Chief Minister about Japanese nursery management, integrated pest and nutrients management and other useful agriculture practices. Following this, the Chief Minister asked Sumitomo executives to create awareness on these subjects to the state's experts, officials and farmers.
The delegation informed the Chief Minister that their practices could be implemented in the food processing sector in AP. Naidu requested the executives to start food processing units for paddy, corn, oil palm and other crops in the state.
The Chief Minister also requested the Japanese delegation to begin works on JICA-sponsored coal-based power project, which will be the first eco-friendly power project (by using Japan's clean-coal technology) in Srikakulam.
