World Bank scheme to give facelift for Telangana villages Hyderabad, Dec 26 (INN): The Telangana Government will soon launch a new scheme titled "Palle Pragathi" to give a facelift to all villages across the State.
Speaking at the review meeting with SERP (Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty) officials here on Friday, Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao said that the scheme would be implemented at a cost of Rs 653 crore. The major component of Rs 450 crore would be shared by the World Bank while the State Government would provide the remaining Rs 203 crore for the scheme.
As many as 2,900 panchayats in 150 backward mandals having a population of nearly 75 lakh people would be developed under the new scheme. The beneficiaries would include 13.17 lakh SCs and about 16.43 lakh STs. He said electronic kiosks would be established at nearly 1,000 strategic points and they would be managed by the local women.
