JC slams Naidu for neglecting MLAs, MPs ANANTAPUR: Veteran politico and TDP MP from Anantapur JC Diwakar Reddy, who is known for making sensational comments is at it again. This time the TDP MP launched an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central government while hurling some indirect brickbats at his party boss and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Interestingly, exactly two days after BJP's drubbing in the Delhi polls, the TDP leader fired salvos at the Prime Minister and the Centre, which might embarrass his own party which is a BJP's ally. While congratulating AAP on its victory in Delhi Assembly polls, Reddy said the broomstick had swept away the BJP in Delhi.
'Telugu MPs don't seem to be carrying any weight in Delhi. The situation of MLAs in the State is also no better,' he told media persons here. Alleging that the Union government does not care to listen to MPs like him, who have more than 40 years of political experience, he accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of treating them like curry leaves.
'While it is the PM who calls the shots at the Centre, it is CM in the State who decides everything. Why should we have direct elections for MPs and MLAs? Instead, it is better to conduct elections for both PM and CM posts,' he suggested.
He said, 'PM and CM are the only positions whose words have become law...elections for MPs and MLAs are a waste of hundreds of crores of tax payers' money.'
Reddy, who has been in politics for four decades, said the country doesn't need democracy as nobody cares MPs and MLAs. Further annoying the BJP, Reddy said the Centre had failed to implement the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act-2014.
On the Centre granting `350 cr for backward North Andhra and Rayalaseema, Reddy asked how could development be done with a meagre amount.
Reddy, however, has a word of praise for his boss, 'If Chief Minister Naidu does some good work, there is not even one opposition party member who is in a position to appreciate his work,' he remarked.
TDP insiders attribute Reddy's comments to his efforts to garner some attention in his district which is being dominated by minister Paritala Sunitha.
