Villagers turn away 'spiritual' activist CHITTOOR: Noted 'spiritual activist' Kondaveeti Jyothirmayi tasted a bitter experience when she started her state-wide Grama Swarajya Yatra aimed to create awareness on protection of the rights of villagers.
She, along with her entourage of 25 members, reached Telligundlapalle village in Chittoor rural mandal. While protesting the government's move for acquiring lands in villages in the disguise of development, Jyothirmayi wanted to create awareness among the villagers alleging that the government has got other intentions.
However, as she entered the village and tried to speak, villagers objected and resisted her yatra, questioning her motive behind the programme.
When the state is facing many other problems why is she bringing up her personal agenda and creating disturbance in the minds of the villagers, some women asked her.
As irate villagers disconnected the cables of the sound system and disrupted the programme, Jyothirmayi and her team left the village after performing puja to the village diety.
