KTR inaugurates 10-day Telangana Festival Hyderabad, Feb 18 (INN): Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao inaugurated the Telangana Festival here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that 10-day long festival would focus on highlighting various hues and flavours of Telangana culture, food and arts and crafts. He said that the State Government was taking all measures to promote Telangana's artifacts which have a great value at the international level.
He said that the Information Technology Department would coordinate the online promotion of Telangana's artifacts, dance and food. He said Telangana's culture and heritage was suppressed by the previous Andhra rulers. However, he said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was quite particular that Telangana's artists get due recognition at the global level.
Addressing the gathering, Tourism and Tribal Welfare Minister Azmeera Chandulal said that the Telangana Festival was first of kind and several such events would be organised on regular basis at different places to promote Telangana's culture, food, arts and crafts.
He said that the government would provide marketing facilities for the arts and crafts of Telangana and would also extend financial assistance to the artists to ensure that they continue with their profession. He said despite being a cosmopolitan State, the tribals have maintained a distinct identity with their culture, arts, food, etc., He hoped that the State Government's efforts would help in effective promotion of Telangana's at the international level.
Advisor to State Government Papa Rao and Times of India Resident Editor Kingshuk Nag were among those who addressed the gathering. Convener Vittal Rao coordinated the event.
Later, Chintu Yaksha Dance, Dappu Dance, Kommu Koya, Oggu Kathtion and Mahboob Hussain Bandanawazi groups gave their performances.
