Misplacement of keys delays Suprabhatha seva TIRUMALA: For the first time in the recent past, Suprabhatham, the wake-up call of lord Venkateswara, got delayed as the doors of Bangaru Vakili (sanctum sanctorum) of the famous hill shrine could not be opened due to misplacement of keys.
The temple staff had to break the wooden lock and open the doors which delayed the ritual by about 10 minutes. However, the other rituals were not affected by the delay.
The incident occurred when Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena was waiting to participate in the Suprabhatha seva outside the Bangaru Vakili. The Executive Officer of the TTD, who was accompanying the Sri Lankan President, immediately ordered a vigilance inquiry into the incident.
According to temple sources, the temple was closed as usual after completing Tuesday's schedule at 1.45 am. Around 2.30 am, the cleaning staff reached the Bangaru Vakili to clean up the area for the next ritual, Suprabhata Seva.
Temple priests too gathered to chant hymns to wake up the lord. However, the temple staff could not find the keys to open the doors of the Bangaru Vakili.
The executive officer then ordered them to immediately break open the lock as the schedule was getting delayed. The staff then opened the doors by cutting the wooden lock.
