Karamchedu mourns its beloved son KARAMCHEDU: A pall of gloom descended on Karamchedu, the birthplace of noted film producer Daggubati Ramanaidu, when the news of his demise reached the village.
It was in this village, Ramanaidu was born in an agriculture family and grew up to become a famous producer, who held a record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most number of films produced by a single individual.
As the news broke out, his close relatives and people in general started flocking to the house of Daggubati Nageswara Rao, former sarpanch of the village, to enquire about the demise and offer their condolences. Many of his close relatives immediately left for Hyderabad.
Ramanaidu's contribution to Karamchedu was remembered on the occasion. He had constructed a free eye hospital and an auditorium in the village. 'He had never refused anything I had asked for the village development. Though he lived in Hyderabad, he was always interested in the development of his native village. His loss has left a void in our lives,' said Nageswara Rao.
Several others, who gathered at his house, mourned the passing away of the movie mogul, who for them was not just an elder, but a role model.
