Ramanaidu cremated with state honours
Hyderabad, February 19: The mortal remains of doyen of Telugu Film industry Dr. D Ramanaidu was consigned to flames at Ramanaidu Studios here on Thursday amidst glorious tributes being paid by people from all sections of the society.
His last journey began from his Road No. 11 residence in Jubilee Hills at 9.30. a.m. on Thursday. Scores of people walked along the vehicle that brought Ramanaidu from the place where he drew his last breath to the place that he used to call his favourite, 'Paradise on Earth'.
Naidu used to tell his friends that he would like the rocky environs of the studios that he constructed in 1989, to be his final resting place.
In tune with his often-expressed desire, family members prepared the same in a corner of the studios. Initially, the mortal remains of Ramanaidu were kept near the Studio gates to facilitate people to pay their homage.
From 10.30 a.m. onwards, there was a steady stream of people from across all sections of society who sobbed inconsolably.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy, and K. Kesava Rao were prominent among those who paid their last respects. Actors Sridevi and her husband Boney, veteran actor Krishna and his wife Vijayanirmala, actor turned MP K. Chiranjeevi and others also reached the studios.
Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu too arrived. Seen right next to the air-conditioned glass container in which Ramanaudu's body was kept were his actor son Venkatesh, grandsons Rana and Nagachaitanya and their best friend actor
