Capital area ryots to form a JAC against land pooling
MANGALAGIRI: Farmers and farmhands in the capital area resolved to form a Joint Action Committee along with all political parties and people's organisations for the protection of their rights and interests.
A four-hour meeting organised here with like-minded political parties, farmers organisations and other people's organisations to chalk out the future course of action for the protection of the rights of farmers and farm hands in the wake of the state government trying to take their lands under the land pooling scheme passed five other resolutions.
It was resolved to demand the state government to immediately stop land pooling for the capital area. The meeting also resolved to demand an inquiry into land polling carried out till date with a sitting judge of the High Court. It was resolved to demand the Central government to roll back the ordinance brought in amending the Land Acquisition Act.
A resolution was also passed to support Anna Hazare's proposed protest programme in Delhi against ordinance amending the Land Acquisition Act. It was also resolved to send a team representing capital area farmers to Delhi to meet Anna Hazare, MPs and various political party leaders and explain the situation pertaining to the farmers and how they are being pressured to part with their lands.
Speaking during the meeting, Bharatiya Kisan Morcha leader Kumaraswamy extended complete support to the farmers of the capital region in their fight against land pooling and said BKS had resolved to fight out Ordinance amending the Land Acquisition Act, as it is not in the best interests of the farmers.
He said Land pooling has no legal validity and every one should oppose the move of the State Government to bring pressure on the farmers to part with their lands.
Former minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao found fault with land pooling and said farmers should understand the CRDA Act before signing their acceptance letters. YSRC leaders Ambati Rambabu and Nagireddy felt that all political parties have failed to support the farmers of Tullur region, which is evident from the fact that many have given their acceptance letters.
Congress leader K Sivaji and others said the NDA government had brought in ordinance to amend the Land Acquisition Act in an underhand manner and said his party will stand by the farmers of the capital region for their rights.
