TDP condemns restrictions on media Hyderabad, Feb 20 (INN): Telangana TDP President L Ramana has strongly condemned the TRS Government's move to impose restrictions on the movement of media in the State Secretariat.
Speaking to media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan here, Ramana said Hyderabad is the joint capital of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. "When the neighbouring State in not facing any problems with media's entry into its Secretariat, why Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is afraid of allowing media into the Telangana Secretariat?" he asked.
Ramana said KCR has reached to this level only due to the support of media. He said journalists and media organisations have played a commendable role during the Telangana agitation and by imposing restrictions, KCR is trying to humiliate the entire fraternity. He said KCR had sought media's help during Telangana agitation. But now he is viewing their presence as harmful to his government.
The TDP leader said that former Chief Minister YS Rajashekar Reddy had imposed similar restrictions on media in 2007 and now KCR is repeating the same mistake. He said KCR began his offensive against media by imposing a ban on TV9 and ABN channels and now he is treating all the media persons as his enemies.
Speaking about the proposal to drain out Hussain Sagar, Ramana demanded that the State Government should first take the opinion of experts and then convene an all-party meeting before taking a final decision.
