AP to get additional power of 170 MW Hyderabad, Feb 21 (INN): The Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (AP Transco) has entered into an agreement with the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) on additional power.
The amended Power Supply agreements have been signed between NLC and AP Transco in the presence of K Vijayanand, CMD AP Transco, B Surender Mohan, CMD, NLC, Director (Finance) APTransco and Rakesh Kumar, Director Finance, NLC.
Vijayanand disclosed the above details and further stated that the Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, the largest Lignite mining company at present operates four thermal power plants of 2740 MW.
By the end of the March 2015, power generating capacity will be 4240 MW and have plans for increasing its power generation capacity to 11206 MW by the end of XII Plan. AP Transco at present have a share of 123.73 MW from the existing NLC Thermal Power Plant II (1470 MW).
The AP Transco will get additional Power of 117.40 MW from NTPL, Tuticorin to be commissioned in March 2015 and another 52.46 MW from Neyveli New Thermal Power Station by 2017. Further AP Transco also have its share from the upcoming new Coal based Sirkali Power Project 2000 MW (Phase I)
Earlier, the power dues from Discoms were mounting and the efforts taken by NLC & Discoms and a mutual consent was reached to liquidate the arrears in a short span of time. All dues have been settled. NLC Thanked the AP DIscoms for settling the arrears and signing the amended Power Supply Agreements.
Vijayanand further said that at present AP is meeting a demand of 145 MU per day. AP Transco is taking all necessary steps to meet demand of 158 MU per day, 152 MU per day and 150 MU per day in the ensuing summer months March, April & May 2015 respectively by tying up additional power from various sources.
