AP Bar Council seeks Guv's intervention for HC bifurcation Hyderabad, Feb 21 (INN): A delegation of Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday seeking his intervention for formation of separate High Court of Andhra Pradesh.
Stating that the AP Reorganisation Act envisages the constitution of separate High Court for Andhra Pradesh, Bar Council chairman A Narsimha Reddy informed the Governor that the Bar Council had passed resolutions and made representations with the Centre seeking immediate bifurcation of High Court.
"The Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh has been flooded with requests from members of Advocate community of both the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, to initiate appropriate steps for establishment of the High Court and also for bifurcation of the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh," he said.
"While the State of affairs are so, the advocates belonging to Telangana Districts are abstaining from Court work, demanding the establishment of separate High Court for the State of Andhra Pradesh and also a separate Bar Council for the Telangana State.
Due to such frequent disturbances, the proceedings of the Courts are being stalled, resulting in pendency of cases and that the litigant public are also made to suffer at large," he said while requested the Governor to convene a joint meeting of the Chief Minister of both the States for an early decision on the issue.
Earlier, the Telangana Rashtra High Court Sadhana Samithi Chairman and Bar Council member Sahvam Sevadhar Reddy, Zakir Hussain Jaweed, Sunil Goud and Anantasen Reddy, Aijaz Ali Qureshi and other advocates visited the Telangana Martyrs' Memorial at Gun Park and paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for Telangana cause.
Speaking to media persons, Sevadhar Reddy expressed regret that neither the Centre nor the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were taking action to bifurcate the High Court despite the fact that advocates have been boycotting court proceedings for the last 20 days. He said the delay in bifurcation of High Court and Bar Council has been causing major loss to the advocates of Telangana.
