Leopard spreads panic in Simhachalam VISAKHAPATNAM: Panic has gripped the villages surrounding Simhachalam after a leopard entered the Goshala of Simhachalam and attacked two calves. The villagers alerted the forest and Devasthanal officials who assured steps to trap the animal.
According to sources, the security of Simhachalam Devastanam was awaken by some sounds in the Goshala in the early hours of Saturday. The security rushed to the Goshala and found a leopard. He raised an alarm and the leopard escaped into the nearby forest.
The forest officials, who inspected the spot, assured that they will arrange cages within two days to trap the animal. Meanwhile, panicked residents of Prahladapuram and Adavivaram near Simhachalam hill were afraid to venture out. They urged to ensure protection to the people and their cattle.
