Kuchipudi Academy soon at Kuchipudi
VIJAYAWADA: Information and public relations minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy has said that the government is planning to set up 'Sahitya Academy', 'Lalita Kala Academy' and 'Sangeeta Nataka Academy' in three different regions in the state.
Speaking at the valedictory of the 'Third World Telugu Writers' Conference' here, he said that the Kuchipudi Academy would be soon set up on a 10-acre site at Kuchipudi in the district at a cost of Rs 100 crore.
'The government is also planning to celebrate the Ugadi festival on a grand scale and to felicitate prominent personalities including artistes and journalists on the occasion.
The birth anniversary of Alluri Seetarama Raju, Gurajada Appa Rao, Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, Poitti Sriramulu and other great personalities are being celebrated by the government in a grand manner,' he expressed.
Irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said the TDP government would put pressure on the Union government to declare Telugu as second official language and will take measures for setting up of 'Telugu Basha Peetham' and digitalisation of manuscripts. 'The fourth world Telugu writers conference will be held in Visakhapatnam,' he said.
Supreme Court judge Justice N Venkata Ramana said that language would remove the barriers between people and unite them and recalled the criticism faced by him when he had his nameplate written in Telugu language in front of his house in New Delhi.
Telugu film actor and noted comedian Brahmanandam said Bammera Potana's poetry transcended the regional barriers while Nannaiah, Tikkana and Errapragada who had brought revolutionary changes in Telugu literature.
Telugu writers Tanikella Bharani and Gollapudi Maruti Rao, veteran journalists Turlapati Kutumba Rao and G Ramachandra Murthy also spoke about the prominence of Telugu language and the steps to be taken to preserve it. Nearly 1,500 writers participated in the conference.
Education minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, excise minister Kollu Ravindra, Vijayawada- East MLA Gadde Ramamohan and Assembly deputy speaker Mandali Budda Prasad were present.
