Jagan charges TD govt with failing ryots ANANTAPUR:YSR Congress (YSRC) chief and Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy has alleged that the government has miserably failed in taking concrete measures to aid the farming community.
Addressing a public meeting in Hindupur town, Jagan alleged that the government was not willing to reveal facts regarding the suicides of farmers fearing the payment of compensations to the family members of the farmer-suicides.
He said that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had announced that the government would waive the agriculture loans of farmers immediately after coming to power, had subsequently put several conditions for eligibility and finally allocated a paltry fund of Rs 4,500 cr for the purpose, which was not even enough for clearing the interests on the loans, he charged.
Earlier, Jagan kickstarted his 'Rythu Bharosa Yatra' in the district. After arriving at Kodikonda checkpost, the YSRC chief received a grand welcome from the party functionaries. After interacting with them for some time, he commenced his 'yatra'.
After spending some time with the farmers at Malireddypalle, he proceeded to Mamidimakulapalle village and consoled the family members of a farmer Kuruba Siddaiah, who had committed suicide recently unable to bear the debts.
