High Court rejects Capital area farmers' plea HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad High Court refused to grant any interim order in the farmers' plea challenging the land pooling scheme of the AP government to develop new state capital.
The Court felt that there is no immediate threat to the farmers in the case and directed the state government to file a counter affidavit by the next date of hearing.
Justice A Rajasheker Reddy was hearing a writ petition by B Sivarami Reddy and 31 other farmers of Mangalagiri and Tadepalli mandals of Guntur district who sought directions to the authorities to forthwith pass orders as per Rule 7 of the AP Capital city land pooling scheme (formulation and implementation) Rules, 2015 by deleting their lands from the land pooling scheme.
The petitioners complained that they were not allowed to raise crops in the agriculture lands to be acquired under the land pooling scheme of the AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Act, 2014. Additional advocate general D Srinivas termed the petitioners' plea on the issue as premature.
The CRDA has extended the date till February 28 to receive farmers' consent and objections, if any, under the scheme. Thereafter, the authority will decide and pass appropriate orders after taking into consideration farmers' applications.
In fact, there is no immediate threat to the petitioner farmers, he told the Court.
