Villagers boycott Jagans' Rytu Bharosa Yatra ANANTAPUR: On the second day of his 'Rytu Bharosa Yatra' in the drought-prone district, YSRC chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy met an embarrassing situation at Kothakota village when most of the villagers locked their houses and stayed out of the village till he left the place in protest against his visit.
The farmers of Kothakota meanwhile alleged that the YSRC chief was staging a fake 'Rytu Bharosa Yatra'. They pointed out that Jagan had portrayed Surendra, an auto driver who had committed suicide, as a farmer even though he did not own even a cent of land in the village.
Earlier in the day, during Jagan's visit to Kothacheruvu mandal headquarters, some unidentified persons tore away some flexies containing the pictures of minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and Hindupur TDP MP Nimmala Kishtappa.
At this, the local TDP leaders staged a protest alleging that it was the handiwork of the YSRC activists in view of Jagan's visit. However, timely intervention by the police averted a possible clash between the YSRC and TDP activists. Earlier, addressing a public meeting, Jagan reiterated his charge that the TDP government was responsible for the farmers' suicides in the state.
