Three held in Rajasthan in city's theft case Hyderabad, Oct 20 (INN): A team of City Police on Thursday arrested three alleged thieves in Rajasthan who committed offence in the limits of Panjagutta Police Station.
The accused - Md Akbar Khan, Mahipal and Bhageerat were arrested from Data village in Jalur district of Rajasthan. According to police, the main accused Akbar is a resident of Hyderabad and was earlier arrested in theft cases. Earlier this month he committed theft of 25 tolas of gold and Rs 3.65 lakh cash from the residence of Venkata Yadava in Pratap Nagar. He then fled to Rajasthan.
Akbar was provided shelter by the other accused Mahipal and Bhageerat at their village and they also disposed off the stolen gold jewellery. Police say that Akbar made friendship with Mahipal and Deepak, another accused in the case, in the Chanchalguda Jail. After his release on bail in August, he committed the theft and took shelter in Mahipal's village.
On receiving credible information, a police team of Panjagutta police station was sent to Rajasthan to arrest the accused. Police recovered Rs 1.52 lakh cash, four tolas of gold jewellery and two cell phones from their possession. Efforts are on to arrest another accused Deepak, who is absconding. The three accused have been brought to city on a transit remand.
