Hyderabad has 1476 slums: Maheedhar Reddy
Hyderabad, Dec 2 (INN): Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister M Mahidhar Reddy on Friday informed the State Legislative Assembly that a total 1,476 slums have been identified in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
In a reply to a question raised by Congress MLA A Rajender during the Question Hour, the Minister said that the State Government has proposals to provide basic amenities in the identified slum areas.
Mahidhar Reddy said that as many 94 slums have been identified in the Malkajgiri constituency. In the first year, four slums Detailed Project Reports have been prepared at a cost of Rs 935 lakh and sent to Central Government for funding under Rajiv Awas Yojana for provision of basic facilities. The proposal for housing is being prepared and will be sent as per yearly action plan, he said.
