Woman held for selling fake gold Hyderabad, Dec 13 (INN): The City Police on Tuesday arrested a woman who was trying to sell fake gold ornaments to gullible customers.
According to Asifnagar inspector M A Jaweed, the accused Koumudi, 22, a resident of Patencheru, was arrested near Meraj Hotel at Mehdipatnam while she was trying to sell fake gold ornaments to another woman Shiromani.
Koumudi approached Shiromani while she was waiting at a bus stop and told her that she was in dire need of money and would sell her gold ornaments for Rs 5,000. However, Shiromani got suspicious and immediately informed the police.
During interrogation, Koumudi confessed that she lured and cheated several people in the last two years to tune of about Rs 1 lakh by selling fake gold ornaments. Police have also seized fake jewellery weighing about half kilogram from her possession. She was later produced before a magistrate.
The City Police has appealed to the people to be cautious and immediately inform the police if someone tries to sell them anything at throw away prices.
