Three chain snatchers held, 25 tolas gold recovered Hyderabad, Dec 14 (INN): The City Police on Wednesday arrested three persons who were allegedly involved in 11 cases of chain snatching.
According to police, the accused - Syed Ilyas, Syed Obaid Hussain and Shaik Javeed were arrested while they were moving at high speed on their bike under suspicious circumstances.
On being stopped and searched, the police team recovered two stolen gold chains from their possession, which they planned to dispose at Shalibanda.
During interrogation they confessed of their involvement in 11 cases of chain snatching from in the limits of seven police stations in the city.
At their instance, police recovered about 25 tolas of gold chains worth nearly Rs 7 lakh from their possession. One Pulsar and a Hero Honda bike used in the commitment of offence have also been seized.
Police said that the accused first stole motor bikes from the Hi-tech city and later used the same to commit the offences of chain snatching during the day time only.
The above arrests were made by Malakpet Detective Inspector M Mattaiah with the assistance of DSI M Venkateshwar Goud and other team members.
