Lover booked for girl's suicide attempt Hyderabad, Dec 23 (INN): The Sanatnagar police on Friday registered a case against a man for refusing to marry a girl who got pregnant and attempted suicide.
According to police, the accused Mohd Iqbal, a resident of Erragadda, befriended a girl and developed physical relationship by promising to marry her.
The girl, a native of Vijayawada, came to the city about one-and-a-half years ago and was staying in a working hostel.
A few days ago the girl learnt that she was pregnant and asked Iqbal to marry her. However, Iqbal told his parents Mohd Ansari and Anwari Sultana that the girl was forcing him for the marriage.
Consequently, the girl was rebuked by Iqbal's parents. Felt insulted, she attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills.
The Sanatnagar police learnt about the suicide attempt after she was admitted in a private hospital. Based on girl's statement, the police on Friday registered a case against Iqbal and his parents. Further investigations into the case are on.
