Doctor held for posting abusive content on girl
HYDERABAD: Failure in love led a doctor to abandon his further studies and take revenge against the girl for spurning him. But the law caught up with him as he was arrested for posting abusive and obscene content in name of the girl on a social networking site.
Dr Manohar (29), a native of Nellore had completed his MBBS from the Government Medical College in Anantapur a couple of years back. According to police, Manohar had an odd habit of giving missed calls to mobile numbers of unknown persons.
"If any person, particularly a girl, called him back, Manohar starts a conversation with them and tries to develop friendship. One such caller was the victim, who is presently working in US as a software engineer," CID Cyber Crimes superintendent of police U Ramamohan said.
After developing friendship with the victim, Manohar proposed to her two years back but the girl refused his love. "The refusal drove Manohar into depression. Though he got a PG seat to study further, he did not join. He then decided to use the Internet to take revenge against the girl," the SP said.
Initially, Manohar started to harass the victim over phone and sending abusive emails. The girl later got married and shifted to US.
Later, Manohar created a fake profile of the victim on Orkut with the girl's morphed images. "More than the images, the content posted on the profile was abusive and derogatory," the officer said.
Manohar sent the profile invite to the girl's friends, colleagues, old school mates, college friends and others. Some of the friends, who received the request, were shocked to see the obscene and abusive content and informed the victim about it.
"The victim's father then lodged a complaint in November 2011 and after collecting the IP addresses from Orkut, the end user was traced to Manohar. He was arrested under various sections of IT Amendment Act and IPC," Ramamohan Rao said.
Police recovered a laptop and a data card from him. The creation of the fake profile created mental agony to the girl and his family and also differences with her husband, police said.
Police warned that posting images of anyone and creating a profile on another person's name without their consent is a crime.
