Shilparam night bazaar, not yet open for visitors Hyderabad: It's been days since the 'Shilparamam Sandhya Vedika' also known as the Night Bazaar was inaugurated.
But it is still wrapped in controversies over its working procedure. The Night Bazaar is designed and timed according to the needs of the IT professionals working at the Hi Tech City, a bazaar exclusive for late-hour shopping.
'Shilparamam Sandhya Vedika' is one of a kind and is different from any other night bazaars, as it is a theme-based bazaar. Divided into four themes based on the evolution of human civilization, this bazaar has a historical perspective, which is rare.
The themes are Adhunik, Sultanate, Vedic and Azma, based on the timeline. The shops and food courts are designed in accordance with these themes. The Bazaar was supposed to have been open to the public from 9th January 2012, but was delayed till 19th January.
The bazaar was inaugurated by Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, but the very next day, it received a letter from the City Police Commissioner, Cyberabad, regarding changes to be made in its timings. The bazaar which is supposed to work between 3pm to 3pm has been told to shut down by 1am.
The bazaar was to have started functioning right from the day of inauguration, but now the visitors have to wait another month to enjoy the experience. 'A lot of work inside the bazaar is still pending. The only reason for keeping the inauguration ceremony on 19th January was because of Chief Minister's schedule and appointments.
Most stalls have to be decorated, and food courts are just coming up. I have also sent a letter to the City Commissioner regarding the timings of the bazaar. I hope to get a positive response soon. I can assure you that there will be a full-fledged working bazaar from 15th February,' says P Jagannatham, manager of Night Bazaar.
