RTC to operate 300 buses for Mahasivarati Hyderabad, Feb 14 (INN): Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation Managing Director B Prasada Rao on Tuesday stated that the corporation has made elaborate arrangements to meet the huge rush of pilgrims on the occasion of Mahasivaratri on February 20.
Talking to media persons at Bus Bhavan, Prasada Rao said that the RTC would run 300 buses from the State capital to Shiva temples across the State from February 18 to February 20 midnight.
Apart from Hyderabad, the RTC Managing Director said that regional depots in the respective zones would also operate additional services to Siva temples in the respective districts.
He said the RTC has also made arrangements for the devotees who are coming from outside the State. He said the regional managers have been given directions to run special buses to Shiva temples as per the requirement.
The RTC will operate services to Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam of Kurnool district, Panakalaswamy Temple in Kottappakonda of Guntur district, Edupayala Durga Temple of Medak district, Kesaragutta in Rangareddy district, Bhimesvara Temple in Vemulavada and Kaleswaram Temple in Karimnagar district.
Responding to Medaram jatara, he said that the RTC has earned Rs 16 crore income by providing services to 13 lakh pilgrims.
