NATA unveils $1.3 million Mega Houston Convention

Houston, April 24: North American Telugu Association (NATA) unveiled a $1.3 million budget Mega convention to be held in Houston from June 29th to July 1, 2012.
The NATA board approved a mega convention plan at a meeting held on April 20th and 21st in Houston. A big contingency team of over 100 dedicated volunteers are working very hard in raising funds, crafting the meeting plans, and conducting the actual convention, said the organizers and advisory members.
President AVN Reddy, Convener Jithender Reddy, President-elect Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy, Advisory Council Drs. Prem Reddy, M.S. Reddy and Mohan Mallam, Secretary Pradeep Samala, Treasurer Ramasurya Reddy, board members, and committee chairs have participated in the board meeting deliberations.
NATA was formed in 2011 with two core objectives of providing community services and advancing the Telugu culture worldwide. In the past one year, NATA organized several community service events and Nata Seva Days in AP including health camps, water projects and student scholarships.
As part of promoting the Telugu culture, NATA is preparing a 2-day convention program to mirror the rich Indian dances, music, literature and native Telugu culture. For these events, NATA is preparing venue at the George Brown Convention Center in Houston.
The board has discussed many issues for organizing a mega convention. To date, the organizers have raised $1.1 millions in donations from donors.
The organizers are inviting over hundreds of guests and VIPs from India including film stars, politicians, artists, community leaders and entrepreneurs. Some guests have already confirmed and others are making their plans to attend the meeting.
Dr. M.S. Reddy was honored by the NATA board for his nomination for the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize. NATA members were jubilant with this news. Advisory council Dr. Malla Reddy congratulated on his felicitations.
NATA has launched registration campaign for the convention. The organizers are appealing to Telugu families in the US, Canada and overseas to register for the convention.
The cost of early registration for family of two is $270 for members and $315 for non-members. Registrants have an option to become a life member at a 50% discount rate of $50 and take the advantage of membership rate for registration.
