First Philadelphia Telangana Night a grand success

The first 'Philadelphia Telangana Cultural Night' held under the aegis of Philadelphia Telangana Association (PTA) on Saturday, June 9 at Great Valley High School, Malvern PA was a grand success.

Telangana Cultural Night will be an annual opportunity to celebrate and share the richness of our culture with our neighbors and also an opportunity to bridge the gap in spite our disagreements with them.

The day's events featured children's activities, traditional Telangana music and dance along with non folk song and dance entertainment. The event anchors Varsha and Narayana Swamy kept the audience completely engaged with their true Telangana dialect.

With a wide variety of food and ever popular folk music, the festival amply displayed the Telangana Culture to the huge crowd that turned up for the event.

The satirical skit on media channels called 'SMOKE TV' was highlight of the night. Excellent performances by Madhava Mosarla, Ramesh Kankati and Venkat Madipadaga made everyone laugh.

Mimicry by Ramesh Kankati and Telangana songs by Venu Yenugula, Sravanth Poreddy and Srini Kompally enthralled every one. To mark the First Telangana Night, Philadelphia Telangana Association (PTA) had brought the Telangana magazine, 'Singidi' 'meaning 'rainbow'.

It is dedicated to the fond memories of Prof Jaya Shankar. This inaugural issue carried articles written by Telangana writers, poets and intellectuals from Telangana and NRIs on topics ranging from the great personalities to festivals and historic events and stories of Telangana. The magazine was released by the Chief Guest Prof Seetharama Rao and the local community leaders.

Ravi Mayreddy in his presentation explained the various activities taken up by PTA in the past few years.

He also presented various non-political, grass root activities happening in Telangana and abroad by Telangana NRI community and concluded that there is an undercurrent cultural and social revolution and transformation is in making in Telangana society. The quest for development is the source of inspiration for Telangana movement.

Some of the prominent people attended the event included, Madhu Reddy, Murali Chintalapani (President, TDF), Venkat Maroju, Amar Karmilla (TeNA), Ravi Potluri (TAGDV), Dhanunjay (Chinmaya Mission), Madhava Mosarla (ATA), Raghava Reddy Ghosala (NATA), Giridhar Masireddy (Bala Gokulam), Uday Kommareddy (Shreyobhilashi, NGO).

Sreedhar Gudala thanked the sponsors and active volunteers especially Pavan Tirunahari, Madhav Cheluka, Sudheer Raju, Sathish Sunkanapalli, Bhanu Thota and Soundarya Mayreddy who worked hard for the success of the event.
