GHMC employee drowns in drainage while cleaning Hyderabad, June 21 (INN): An employee working on contract basis in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation drowned and four others sustained injuries on Thursday.
The employee identified as Devender, who was working as contract labour in drainage cleaning work of GHMC, was drowned while cleaning drainage near Mahankali Temple at Bata Showroom in Secunderabad.
The condition of other four injured is stated to be out of danger and undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
Expressing serious concern over the death of employee, GHMC Mayor Majid Hussain has announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh to next to kin of family and assured to provide employment to one of family members in the GHMC.
The Mayor said that he would make arrangements for providing Rs one lakh from the contractor to victim.
Deputy Mayor G Raj Kumar, Congress party GHMC Floor Leader K Venkatesh, GHMC TDP Floor Leader Singireddy Srinivasreddy, BJP Floor Leader B Prakash and GHMC Special Commissioner Naveen Mittal visited spot.
